Reporting Verbs

Example:

to invite:           You invite someone to do something (verb + sb+to-inf)
to deny:            You deny doing something (verb + -ing form)
                           You deny having done something (verb + -ing form)
                           You deny that you did something. (verb + that-clause)
to apologize:   You apologise for doing something (verb + prep + ing-form)

Be careful with the verb suggest.
                           You suggest that someone do something.
                           You suggest that someone does something.
                           You suggest that someone should do something.
                           You suggest doing something. (If you are going to participate.)

You CAN NOT say: He suggested me to do something.

  6. 'I'll help you if you like.', Paul said.
  7. 'I'll pay you back next week. Really I will.', Ann said.
  8. 'Why don't you look for a new job ?', John said.
  9. 'Why don't we go to the park ?', said the children.
