He looked tired and got nervous when the flight attendant explained to all the passengers that there were no more than three seats left on the plane to Tokyo because it was overbooked. His face got pale and seemed angry, but he had good manners and two minutes later, when he had finished counting to ten and calmed down, he decided to talk to her. First he took off his sunglasses which hid his tired eyes, and said: "I have just arrived from San Antonio and need to take the first flight to Tokyo because ...". Then the flight attendant looked at him and started laughing and said "Jim? ... Jim Marquez!" and suddenly she kissed him. Mr. Marquez could not believe it and could not understand anything. Surprised by her reaction, he looked at her (his brain started to go over the faces of all the people that he could remember) ... and suddenly said "Jessica!" and squeezed her in his arms - she (to change) a lot! Jim was her father's brother so he was her uncle.

He was 45 years old, younger than his brother, but he looked older because of his hard years working on the family farm. Jim (to be) Jessica's doctor and confessor when she (to live) in San Antonio, and he knew all the problems that she had with her father. Finally Jim told Jessica: "I must get to Tokyo tomorrow afternoon to meet one of the most important heart surgeons in the world". This doctor (to test successfully) a new treatment and Jim thought that it could be effective to cure one of his patients who had a serious genetic illness which affected his heart. He needed help urgently because he (to try) several treatments and the patient (not / to feel) better. It was perhaps the last opportunity to cure him.

Then Jim said: "Please, Jessica do what you can, I must fly to Tokyo urgently." She said that she had to consider all the passengers' circumstances but she knew that it was important because a person's life was in danger. They spent a few minutes talking about their lives, and Jim told her that he (to found) a hospital three years ago which was situated in the centre of San Antonio. Jessica gave Jim her telephone number and promised to go to San Antonio the following summer.
